About us
Language Tree is an independent language school based on Penryn Campus. Our school is run by locals who love this amazing part of the UK. We want to share the beauty of Cornwall with international visitors, whilst being mindful to respect the comfort and daily life of the local community.
Our International Summer School will be running from June to August 2025, bringing together students from across the globe for a fun and educational experience in Cornwall. However, we do also sometimes need hosts at other times of year too.
We welcome teenagers, families and adults on our courses. We work closely with our students and hosts to always try to ensure a good match. Before any hosting, we will agree the dates with you and put you in touch with the student to exchange greetings before they arrive.

- Welcome students from different cultural backgrounds into your home
- Flexible hosting durations: Host for 1 week or more, depending on your availability throughout the summer
- Host teenagers or adults, depending on your preferences
- Host up to 3 students (if there is suitable room in your home)
- Earn money for each student you host
Hosting international students can be a rewarding experience, helping you forge connections with students from around the world, while allowing them to experience the warmth and hospitality of a British home.
Requirements for Host Families
To ensure a safe and comfortable environment for students, host families must meet the following criteria:
- Provide a suitable bedroom for students
- Prepare meals (breakfast and dinner) for each student you host - we normally provide lunch on campus but sometimes a packed lunch may be required too
- Be within reasonable travel distance to Penryn Campus (or be willing to make travel arrangements for students if not close to the campus)
- Commit to providing a supportive, safe and welcoming home environment
- Undergo a background check and home visit by our staff
- Excellent pay per week for each student hosted
- Support & training from Language Tree
- Opportunities to build lifelong relationships with students from diverse cultural backgrounds
